La Costa Show Exhibiting Artists:
~Mary Borges:
Painting has been a passion of mine since I picked up a brush early in
life. I have had the honor of studying under some wonderful artists. As
a graduate of UC Davis I had the luxury of taking classes from known
artists Wayne Thiebaud, Roy Deforest, and sculptor Manual Neri. My
paintings are with acrylic paints but I do some mixed media by adding
paper to the canvas. My love for animals, the ocean, sailing and nature
are the focus for many of my paintings.

~Diane O’Connell:
She is an alluring artist working in a variety of mediums including oil
painting, watercolor, drawings, collage and photography. She enjoys
painting on location "plein air" and also from photographs. My art
focuses on capturing the beauty of nature and my appreciation of the
awesome place I live in Carlsbad near the beach. I will be exhibiting
original paintings, photographs and cards for sale.

~Kathleen McVey:
From an
early age, I was inspired by the natural beauty of my native California.
This inspiration created a need for me to express myself through art and
painting. As my interest in art developed, my paintings were further
inspired by my studies of the great masters of the Renaissance,
Impressionism and Expressionism. I paint from both life and my
imagination, always striving to create a balance between natural beauty
and the ideal. My mixed-media, acrylic and oil paintings are a reflection
of my love of nature. I hope they speak to my viewers in a way that helps
them focus on the beauty in our world. I will be exhibiting my original
paintings as well as works created for children, animal portraits, prints,
cards and gifts.
~Rosemary
Valente:
La
Costa resident of 12 years, Rosemary Valente is best known for her work
with expressionist landscape paintings done in simple spreads of bold
acrylic and oil colors. This application of color emphasizes form,
creates harmony, and evokes emotions. She earned her masters in art at the
University of Hawaii
and has taught painting to students of all ages. Her work can be found
in personal and corporate collections in the US and abroad. In
addition to her fine art exhibit, there will be a unique collection of her
personalized paintings silkscreened onto individual SLING BAGS/PURSES.

~Malsu
(Sue) Paparisto:
Sue is
a graduate of California Design College (Art Institutes of Los Angeles)
and her interests range from fashion design to fine art. Over the last
years she has focused on woodblock carving, studying techniques based on
ancient Asian art. She finds most of her inspiration from nature and
places she has visited
~Donald
Pallia:
New to
the La Costa area, Don moved from Redlands, California where he was a
member of the Redlands Art Association and the Loma Linda University Art
Association. He paints in acrylics and mixed media using photography as
an inspiration to draw from. He has exhibited at the Riverside Art
Museum, the Redlands Art gallery and is currently exhibiting at the COAL
gallery in Carlsbad. His fine art is in 40 collections. Don will bring
some small artisan paintings on stone, a series on the fountains of La
Costa and artisan painted UV golf umbrellas’. Some of his work can be
seen at

~Wendy Hall:
Educated at Mt Holyoke College in Massachusetts and the University of
Saint Andrews, Scotland gave Wendy an opportunity to study the art works
at many noted museums in Europe. Later in New England, she began painting
seriously and since moving to California, has had solo exhibitions both at
The Inn at Rancho Bernardo and the Carlsbad Library. As a member of
Sargent Art Group, her work has been shown in many exhibitions locally and
her work is now in several private collections. Her favorite medium is
watercolor but she has also done silk painting. Examples of her paintings
can be viewed on

~Bob Cradic: There
is no doubt that the artistic style of Bob Cradic is unique, in a good
way. His paintings can be strong and forceful or quiet and subdued,
depending on the story the painting is telling. Bob Feels that if a
painting is to capture you, and a truly good painting should do just that,
capture you, it must contain a bit of mystery and leave a little room for
imagination. Strong colors, light and shadow are his trademark. He has
a Master’s Degree in Education from UCLA and continues his love of
teaching by conducting painting classes, both oil and acrylic, for adult
artists at Fletcher Cove (Solana Beach), and Poway Adult School. His work
can be seen at Del Mar Art Gallery, COAL Gallery (Carlsbad), and Rancho
Santa Fe Art Guild. www.oilsbycradic.com
~Marie Chapian:
is an author and painter who writes books and paints in her Encinitas
studio. Dr. Chapian, who has a PhD in counseling psychology, gave up a
thriving practice to write and paint full time. Her paintings are in
private collections in the U.S. and Italy, and are shown in galleries in
New York, California and Mexico. She was featured in a solo show of her
painted screens in Old Town, San Diego and her artwork has been featured
in the San Diego Union Tribune, KUSI TV. She has illustrated four books
for children. “Because of the irrepressible, and pleasant tactile
qualities of silk, I find working with dyes, paint and embellishments on
silk like creating ten paintings in one, and wearing the silk scarves and
kimonos makes them walking pieces of art. To me it’s an inspiring,
magical world.” At the La Costa Expo I will be offering my one-of-a-kind
silk art scarves and kimonos for sale, plus small acrylic paintings on
canvas as little stories of our life in Southern California.
